Disinfection and Sterilization of Manicure Tools
According to statistics, every woman has at least once visited the beauty salon to get a good manicure. Few women think about the procedure of treatment of the tools used to treat their precious hands, and certainly not every woman has a chance to ask the master about it. It is worth noting that there are three main stages for complete sterilization of the inventory and exclusion of the harmful bacteria preservation.
Disinfection
Initially, it is required to conduct disinfection, which involves the destruction of microbes that can activate pathogens and opportunistic pathogens. In particular, it eliminates:
1. Viruses;
2. Bacteria;
3. Fungus spores.
It is required to disinfect everything touched by the master’s client, including the hands of a manicurist. Disinfection is performed with the help of chemical agents. The solution must be diluted not by feel, but strictly according to the established concentration requirements. The tools must be immersed completely without the smallest element remaining on the surface. The duration of disinfection is about 3-4 hours.
Presterilizing Treatment
Presterilizing treatment is the second stage of cleaning the following manicure tools:
1. Scissors;
2. Needles;
3. Clamps;
4. Tweezers;
5. Pincers;
6. Nippers;
7. Nail files and so on.
The procedure itself consists in washing the inventory in a special solution and running water. To be more precise, the first stage involves the transformation and neutralization of organic particles, following by their obligatory removal from the surface of the tools. The large beauty salons offer ultrasonic baths, which perform cleaning in a matter of minutes. As for rinsing with running water, you also need a couple of minutes. After this, the inventory is rinsed with distilled water to remove the salt haze.
Sterilization
The third stage provides for the beginning of sterilization, which is necessary to remove pathogenic and non-pathogenic microorganisms, regardless of their life form, and also this method removes spores of fungi.
Sterilization is carried out with the help of special equipment. Namely:
1. Dry-air sterilizer, the operating principle of which is similar to the ordinary oven, as it sterilizes the tools under a temperature of 180 °C.
2. Autoclave which performs sterilization by means of pressure and operating temperature of 110-140 °С
How is the sterilized equipment stored?
Once the inventory is treated, it must be stored in a clean and dry form in a sterilizer equipped with ultraviolet radiation. The storage period after completing all treatment stages is about 7 days if the ultraviolet operates around the clock.
If you turn off the device for at least a few minutes, the inventory is subject to the retreatment. Regardless of the manicure type for which the tools are sterilized, the cleaning and storage conditions are the same. Every make-up artist who respects his/her work and his/her clients is obliged to carry out the above actions. This will help to support the image of the salon and, particularly, his/her work.
Do not hesitate to ask about the procedure of treatment of tools at your beauty salons so as not to contact bacteria and pathogens.
